The best apps in the DACH region
The "Show your App" awards were held for the sixth time in Munich at the beginning of February. The awards honored the best apps from the entire DACH region in the categories Mobility & Travel, Life & Style, Games & Entertainment, Media & Education, Business & Finance and in the special category "Worth seeing". The high-caliber jury of experts from the media and industry evaluated the submissions according to the criteria of design, usability, functionality and cost-benefit ratio. The best app according to the juryIn first place, the "Fuel radar" app. It shows its users the cheapest petrol stations in their area and on their split route, solving a problem that every driver knows: should you stop at this petrol station or is there another cheaper one coming up? The app accesses information from the Bundeskartellamt's market transparency office for fuels, and the jury awarded the silver medal to the "Edeka app - your shopping companion". Its functions include current offers in the markets identified by the user, an intelligent shopping list linked to personalized recipe ideas and a search for markets in the user's vicinity. Information is provided not only about the location and opening hours of the stores, but also about special services, such as whether the store has a fresh meat counter or bakery and whether mobile payment is possible there. Mobile payment is then also made via the app, with third place going to the car sharing app "Urbi". With this app, the developers led by Emiliano Saurin combined all car sharing services in one app. The application makes it unnecessary to install the applications of individual services and to register separately with each provider. What's more, it not only works throughout Germany, but also in Italy and other cities such as Vienna, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Amsterdam. The developers are now focusing on the Europe-wide expansion of the partner network, which already includes car2go, Drivenow and Multicity in Germany. The Ikea Family app

The Ikea Family app received the special prize. The special prize was awarded to the Ikea Family app developed by IQ mobile. The application was recognized by the Location Based Marketing Association (LBMA) as a "Best Practice Location". "The Ikea Family app not only digitizes the Ikea Family Card, but also combines it with up-to-date information about restaurant, partner and product offers in stores selected by the user. This makes IKEA Austria one of the first companies to use beacon technology across the board, which is why the LMBA decided to award this special prize," said the jury, explaining its decision.Anyone who has installed the app and activated the Bluetooth function will receive messages at predefined points in selected Ikea stores in Austria, such as: "Find out if there are any new offers" or "Time for a break! For example, with a free coffee for Ikea Family members and a juicy raspberry cake!" Ikea Austria has been using beacons, which enable this form of wireless customer communication, since last year. The app recognizes that an Ikea Family customer is in the store and the beacons send messages at certain locations to those customers who have activated their cell phones for this purpose. The app for the modern shopping experience is optimized for Android, iOS and Windows and is available in Austria and Switzerland. So far, the Ikea Family app has been downloaded over 40,000 times. The technology was realized by IQ mobile.
