Dadaism originated in Zurich 100 years ago.Zurich is the birthplace of an international art and literature movement: On February 5, 1916, the Cabaret Voltaire opened at Spiegelgasse 1. It was here that Hugo Ball, Emmy Hennings, Tristan Tzara, Richard Huelsenbeck, Marcel Janco and Hans Arp founded Dadaism - as a reaction to the horrors of the First World War, as a protest against society and its bourgeois ideals, as a revolt against art.Today, 100 years later, Zurich celebrates Dada. In honor of the 165 most important Dadaists, events will be held at the Cabaret Voltaire on 165 holidays from February to July. And other institutions, including the Landesmuseum and the Museum Rietberg, are also reviving Dada with numerous exhibitions, theater projects, films, performances, seminars and readings.More on 100 years of Dada can be found at here.
