Uto Kulm: The new design plan

LOCATION The cantonal building department has published the revised design plan for the summit of the Uetliberg, the Uto Kulm.
Uto Kulm
The Uto Kulm. The revised design plan for the Uto Kulm Hotel and Restaurant provides for a so-called "intensive recreation zone" on the summit of the Uetliberg in coordination with the protection zone plan. In addition, the gastronomically usable areas for special events or romantic weddings on the headland towards the Kränzli ("outdoor restaurant areas A and B") will be precisely defined, and there will also be an agreement on a bicycle parking area. Giusep Fry will take care of the waste disposal and also assures the use of the WC as well as the lookout tower - this against a fee for all those who want to use these offers without consumption. The re-establishment of a kiosk, which is particularly popular with day-trippers, is also explicitly provided for in the design plan. The specifications for the terraces have also been adapted to local conditions and the needs of guests and staff: Sun blinds and windbreaks can be installed in the outdoor areas. The proposal for the design plan, however, also contains some imponderables. For example, the traffic concept will be difficult to implement in its present form, the lighting and immission concept is inconsistent, and the distribution of approved events and the associated equipment, such as marquees, needs to be adapted to the actual conditions.
