The aircraft manufacturer from Stans received the prestigious prize, which has been awarded annually by the Foundation for Marketing in Business Management since 1984, for its sustainable economic success, customer-oriented marketing and commitment to Switzerland as a business location. Stefan Michel, President of the GfM Marketing Prize jury and Professor of Marketing and Service Management at IMD Lausanne, praised the "high-flyer" in his laudatory speech: he builds relationships and creates value for his customers based on trust and mutual respect. The award also recognized the courage to take risks with which the aircraft manufacturer developed its latest product, the PC-24, according to customer requirements and launched it on the market with a surprising, original Swiss event. Oscar J. Schwenk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pilatus Aircraft Ltd., is delighted that "unconventional marketing like Pilatus does is also worthy of an award, even though it doesn't fit into the marketing scheme." As a fan of bionics, Schwenk is using the prize money of 20,000 Swiss francs to support a Sharkskin project that Professor Dr. Leonardo Manfriani is leading at the ZHAW School of Engineering in Winterthur in the Aviation course. The aim of the project is to transfer artificial sharkskin based on 3M films to an aircraft in order to reduce drag.
