#stmoritz2017 - the first social media event

SOCIAL MEDIA At the first social media event of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017, the public was informed about the organization's digital communication strategy.Around 60 people gathered in the concert hall of Bäder AG in St. Moritz Bad on August 25, 2015 to find out about the various activities of the Ski WM St. Moritz on social channels. 45 minutes were spent explaining why social media is so important today, why the Ski WM is pursuing this concise social media strategy and what the implementation looks like in concrete terms. Various keywords, such as Web 2.0, user-generated content and storytelling, were explained to those present. The Community Manager of the World Ski Championships, Stefanie Jüptner, also presented how the networks work and explained the use of the famous hashtag (#). Ultimately, the various contents of all interested parties are to be brought together via the hashtag #stmoritz2017. The presentation of the blog world around the World Ski Championships met with great interest, as blogs are on the one hand very diverse and multifaceted, but on the other hand not yet so well known to many. The entries can also be viewed without having to create an account, and the attending community was called upon to become active themselves and create content about the World Ski Championships and the Engadin St. Moritz region, which will then be linked and distributed by the World Ski Championships. Working together is the only way to direct the interest of the online communities towards St. Moritz and the World Ski Championships.
