ONLINE ADVERTISING The election of the new President David Burst was confirmed at the General Assembly of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Switzerland Association, the industry association for Swiss digital advertising. This is the first time that a representative of the client side has headed IAB Switzerland.

The new IAB President: David Burst, Media Project Manager at Migros. The General Assembly of IAB Switzerland at the Swissôtel in Zurich granted discharge to the entire Board. The office of the President was also up for election. In accordance with the reorganization of the IAB, this office is filled annually by a representative of the Presidium on a rotating basis. The Presidium in turn consists of one representative each from the publisher, customer and agency sides, as well as the Managing Director and his deputy. With David Burst, Media Project Manager and digital mastermind at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, a representative of the client side now heads the IAB Switzerland for the first time. This is a clear commitment by the IAB to be an association for the interests of the entire digital advertising industry. The previous President, Stephan Obwegeser, is stepping down from the IAB Board due to his upcoming move from Tamedia to Schober. He will continue to serve the IAB as a member and advisor. The new organization had proven its worth in 2014: The association looks back on numerous events, publications and stable finances. The "Digital Marketing Award" and the "Digital Marketing Summit" attracted over 500 guests to Kaufleuten and confirmed their status as a central industry event.Focus topics 2015In 2015, IAB Switzerland intends to focus its work in the individual committees on three core topics: Self-Marketing, Complexity Reduction and Market Transparency. The publication of guides, glossaries and cases is intended to improve the perception of the IAB and the digital advertising market. Especially in the areas of standards and research, less complexity and more market transparency are to be ensured. In addition to the existing expert groups (customers, agencies, publishers), departments (marketing, research, legal, standards, training) and focus groups (performance, mobile, programmatic advertising, moving image, social media), the technology focus group was launched. The aim of this group is to be an exchange forum for digital tekkies and to explain complex technical processes simply in the area of training and communication.Successful IAB AcademyAfter the successful launch of the diploma course "Digital Marketing for Beginners" in 2012, the concept was continued as IAB Academy in 2014 and the new course "IAB Diploma Course Digital Marketing - Advanced Course" was introduced. In a total of 11 courses, over 140 participants were trained and further educated - a consistently positive result for the IAB Academy. Therefore, there should continue to be a comprehensive and cost-effective basic training that reaches a broad target group and helps to develop the market. In order to meet the need for a more in-depth examination, the IAB Academy expanded the program of diploma courses in 2014. Thus, in addition to the diploma course "Digital Marketing - Basic Course" and the diploma course "Digital Marketing - Advanced Course", there is the "Digital Marketing Breakfast for Executives" and the "Intensive Search Engine Marketing Course".IAB Switzerland with national and international appearancesThis year, IAB Switzerland presented itself with a booth at the Swiss Online Marketing Fair (SOM) in Zurich.
