Last but not least: The country where broadband Internet is a basic right
Finland is the first country in the world to declare high-speed Internet access a fundamental right. Telecommunications companies are now required to provide every resident with a connection at a DSL speed of one megabit per second.
This decision was based on the role of the Internet in the daily lives of Finns, as Communications Minister Suvi Linden explained on Thursday. However, the Finns are already largely supplied with fast Internet. Now only around 4,000 households need to be connected, Linden continued.
