Give a Sh**!

Posters that catch the eye: To mark World Toilet Day, the agency The People created a campaign that drew the attention of passersby.

For UN Water, The People used a simple motif to draw attention to the fact that not having access to sanitary facilities is deadly. The campaign Sanitation First has built over 5,000 toilets where there were none before. And thus provided 56,000 people with access. Ecosan toilets are built, which are much cheaper and easier to construct, do not require complex water and sewage connections and ultimately produce valuable compost and fertilizer.

All in all, a pretty sensible investment, because without toilets, diseases spread - according to the campaign, diarrhea kills more people every year than all wars combined. However, the Ecosan toilets are not financed by themselves, donations are needed. The provocative subject attracted the attention of passers-by in London and conveyed the simple message without much detour. It seems that for once the film shows real passers-by and not amateur actors - a blessing. (hae)
