The noise-canceling poster

Posters can do many things. They can sell products, attract attention, look good - and in Canada they can even combat noise.

Anyone buying a house should meticulously inspect the area beforehand. Otherwise it could turn out to be noisy and therefore uninhabitable in retrospect. If you buy in Canada via the Realtor.ca portal, you can rule out any nasty surprises later on because the real estate agents and experts involved guarantee that their properties have no false bottoms.

The Union agency from Toronto has developed a poster that literally shows the difference between noise and silence. Using the same technology that is also used for noise-canceling headphones, the advertising material was able to draw the attention of passers-by at a construction site to Realtor by means of counter-frequencies.

Only two questions remain unanswered. Firstly, did it really work as well as the case movie would have us believe? And secondly, why isn't this technology used more often outside of Bose headphones? In any case, the campaign won silver in the "Creative Technology" category at the Epica Awards. (hae)
