Amazon nabs million-dollar order from the postal service
Swiss Post is relying on the expertise of billionaire Jeff Bezos’s company for its IT needs. According to the procurement website Simap.ch, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has just secured a contract worth over 4 million Swiss francs from Swiss Post for cloud computing services.

The contract runs for four years, with an annual compensation of 1 million Swiss francs, according to the Handelszeitung reports. Amazon is not only an e-commerce giant, the company is also putting the fear of God into its competitors in cloud computing: With a market share of well over 40 percent, AWS is the clear market leader. With its computer services, AWS relies heavily on machine learning and artificial intelligence. The company wants to take advantage of these opportunities and introduce innovative digital products, says Die Post, explaining the decision to award the contract. It already does business with Amazon in the parcel business. The yellow giant has an agreement with the Americans that simplifies the customs clearance and delivery of Amazon parcels.
