Blick printing in Adligenswil LU is history
Another step toward closure: With the printing of the final issue of *Blick* in Adligenswil, Lucerne, the closure of the Ringier printing plant at the end of the year is drawing nearer. 172 jobs are at risk.

Around four billion issues of the tabloid have run through the printing presses in Adligenswil over the past forty years, writes the View on Wednesday. The current edition is therefore the last; in future, the entire print run will be printed at Tamedia's Zurich printing center, which has already been the case for part of the newspaper since August. Ringier announced the closure for economic reasons last November.
The newspaper printing plant will fall victim to a reorganization of the parent company's printing business and will be closed at the end of the year. This will affect 172 jobs. According to information from the beginning of the year, 151 people were made redundant, including 29 who took early retirement. The remaining 21 people affected had employment contracts that were due to expire and were not renewed.
Insufficient capacity utilization
At the end of the consultation process, the management did not respond to the demands and proposals of the staff committee and trade unions. The rejected proposals envisaged continued operations, meaning that 40 jobs would have had to be cut instead of 172. Around 90 percent of employees have already found new employment, as Ringier announced on request. The company is confident that the remaining colleagues will also find new jobs.
Six different titles are currently printed in Adligenswil, including the Lucerne Newspaper with the regional editions, which Zug press, the Uri weekly paper and the Entlebucher Gazetteas well as weekly, trade and association newspapers, advertising supplements and customer newspapers. According to Ringier, the print shop will no longer be able to cover its costs in future. Market prices have fallen. Production capacity utilization is insufficient. The building does not belong to Ringier. The company has announced that it is looking for a successor for the rented space. (SDA)
