50 BPM (Trees Per Minute)
Europe's last primeval forest is disappearing at breakneck speed. In Romania, the WWF, Virgin Radio, and DDB are taking a stand against deforestation—with beats at a memorable pace.

The last primeval forest in Europe is being cut down at a rapid pace, including in Romania. Every hour, illegal logging causes the disappearance of 10,000 (!) square meters of forest in this European country, which alone contains two thirds of Europe's primeval forest areas. A tree falls every 1.2 seconds. The World Wildlife Fund, Virgin Radio and McCann Bucharest are now launching the "Deforestation Beat" campaign against deforestation. The country's best-known musicians have mixed new hits to the beat of deforestation or to the rhythm of clear-cutting - to draw attention to deforestation.
Before their songs are played on Shazam, attention is drawn to deforestation, while at the same time the musicians call on people to donate to the World Wildlife Fund. After donating, a tree can be planted on a virtual Virgin Radio map. (hae)
