Helena Jansen heads the competence center for simplified language forms

German studies and communications specialist Helena Jansen is now head of the newly founded competence center leicht-und-einfach für Texte in Leichter Sprache und in Einfacher Sprache - a service for small and large companies or institutions that also want to reach target groups with limited reading skills.

"Unlike in Germany and Austria, easy-to-read texts for people with reading difficulties are still not very common in Switzerland," says Helena Jansen. "The competence center should help to ensure that simplified language forms are also strengthened here." At Easyandsimple.ch the Competence Center is therefore also launching Switzerland's first news portal in plain language. In a pilot phase, three news items will be published each week.

Helena Jansen is Deputy Agency Manager at the Bern-based full-service PR agency Zoebeli Communications. Helena Jansen studied German philology and history at the Universities of Bern and Berlin. She also holds an Executive Master of Science in Corporate Communications Management from the University of Lugano. During and after her studies, she worked as a journalist and editor. After several years at the Berner Zeitung, she joined Zoebeli Communications in 2003.
