Animal Welfare Initiative at a special price
The fact that chicken thighs cost only 15 cents (!) at Edeka on Monday sparked a social media firestorm in Germany. It was actually supposed to be just a «promotion.».

Stinginess is cool, but at some point, even the biggest saver gets carried away. For example, when a "chicken thigh" costs an unbelievable 15 cents as a "Monday scoop". The fact that this price even included the back piece doesn't make the roast any more ethically sound.
Edeka's social media department responded to a Facebook user's posted advertisement. And explained that they understood the user's concerns "in principle" - but that it was an advertising campaign. Limited to one day and to individual markets:

The "Animal welfare initiative"The initiative, in which Edeka is the largest contributor, also includes Lidl and Aldi, among others. The initiative was described by ZDF as a "policy of small steps". titled - It is intended to improve conditions in German factory farming at least a little. Until then, you can buy pork neck steaks at Aldi Süd for 2.59 per 600 gram pack. Buy. Without any shitstorm. Or at Lidl one kilogram Chicken thighs for 1.99 euros ("Quality from Germany"). Enjoy your meal! (hae)
