In its hundredth year presents We parents as a fresh, modern title, right in the middle of family life. The new magazine offers more service and ideas for family time. It is designed to accompany and connects families from toddler age to the primary school years with high-quality journalistic content.

All advice on pregnancy and babies is now bundled in "Babykosmos. In "Focus," readers can find out what moves other Swiss families in major reports, interviews and stories. There are also new sections such as the Agenda, Sustainable Living and the Development and Education Guide.

The last third of the magazine is now called "Family Time" and offers ideas for an inspiring and creative everyday family life. Recipes, craft instructions, excursion tips, home reports, style ideas and product tests are still an important part, but come with a new look.

Various print and social media channels also encourage readers to become part of the magazine. Be it with praise or criticism, their own experiences or questions.

The anniversary issue is published on Friday and looks back on the 100 years of existence. To do so, the editors have searched the archive volumes for the most moving stories, the best anecdotes and long-outdated or surprisingly enduring parenting tips. What has preoccupied society in relation to the topic of family, then and since? How has the subject of birth changed, and why did children's homes used to place page after page of advertisements? The anniversary issue aims to provide answers to such questions.

Katja Fischer De Santi takes over as Editor-in-Chief of Parents' Time magazine as of May 1, 2022 We parents. The experienced journalist and team leader succeeds Karen Schärer, who is leaving the magazine at her own request to refocus and take on a new challenge.

Katja Fischer De Santi has been with CH Media and the former NZZ regional media since 2006, most recently as co-team leader of the Life & Knowledge section of the central editorial department, where she is responsible for the topics of family, society, culinary arts and fashion. Prior to that, the 42-year-old was for many years head of the Focus section of the St. Galler Tagblatt. In this role, she led a team of ten editors and was at times responsible for a national culture and knowledge section with up to six pages a day.

In 2020 and 2021, Fischer De Santi was nominated for the Society Journalist of the Year award, presented by industry magazine Swiss journalist:in is awarded.

"As a journalist, I have been writing for years about topics such as motherhood and fatherhood, compatibility, parenting and psychology. For me, families act like a burning glass that reveals what is important to a society and how values change. Since I am a mother of two sons myself, I also know what a challenge but also a joy it is to raise children. I am therefore very pleased to be able to publish the superbly produced family magazine We parents to shape and develop the content together with the team," Fischer De Santi was quoted as saying in a statement from CH Media.

Karen Schärer, editor-in-chief of Wir Eltern since 2014, has decided to leave the magazine at the end of March 2022. Over the past seven years, Schärer has personally shaped and significantly developed the nearly century-old parenting magazine, CH Media writes in a statement. She has ensured that the special interest magazine has always kept its finger on the pulse, both in terms of content and appearance - including in the digital realm.

Karen Schärer now wants to reorient herself and take on a new challenge in the future. Planning for Karen Schärer's successor will begin in the next few weeks, according to CH Media.

"With her empathy as well as her great expertise and broad experience, Karen Schärer has played a major role in shaping the positioning of Wir Eltern over the past seven years. With a great deal of creativity and passion for topics that concern mothers and fathers in our time, she has created a high-profile family magazine," Michael Sprecher, Head of Magazine Publishing at CH Media, was quoted as saying.

Karen Schärer has been working for the "az Aargauer Zeitung" since completing her studies. She started as a trainee in 2004 and then moved to the domestic department as an editor. Since 2013, she has been deputy department head of "Leben&Wissen" and since 2011 has also been a freelancer for Wir Eltern. According to the press release, she studied English literature and linguistics, Nordic literature, communication and media studies at the University of Basel. During her studies, she was an intern at the Aargauer Zeitung and Seventeen magazine in New York as well as a freelancer for various publications and research projects. In 2006, she completed the in-service diploma course at Maz (The Swiss School of Journalism). Schärer is married and has two children. She starts her job on Sept. 1, 2014.

Nicole Althaus took over as editor-in-chief of the Swiss parenting magazine "wir eltern" on September 1, 2010. As Journalist of the Year 2010 and a leading opinion leader on the role of modern women in society and the family, she was instrumental in the reorientation of "wir eltern". She is leaving AZ Medien at the end of August 2014 at her own request. A successor is being sought for the vacant position. Axel Wüstmann, CEO of AZ Medien, said in a statement: "Nicole Althaus has significantly shaped and developed our Swiss parenting magazine Wir Eltern as an excellent editor-in-chief. I would like to thank her for her successful commitment."

Nicole Althaus will join the NZZ am Sonntag as a member of the extended editorial team on September 1, 2014. Althaus will take over the newly created organizational unit Magazines. NZZ am Sonntag has recently greatly expanded its activities in this area with the real estate magazine Residence and the film magazine Frame. Althaus will also work as a columnist and author.

Before joining Wir Eltern, she was involved in the conception and launch of the mommy blog on Tagesanzeiger.ch, which is one of the most successful blogs in Switzerland. Her journalistic career began in 1997 at Landbote in Winterthur and then at Annabelle and the news magazine Facts. Althaus studied German and art history in Zurich and Berlin, graduating in 1994. In 2010, she was named Journalist and Columnist of the Year by the magazine Schweizer Journalist.

From June 1 to 3, 2012, Wir Eltern will also have a stand at the Fam Expo in Winterthur. Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to pose for their personal family portrait with a professional photographer. They can use this directly for the competition and the individual booklet cover at prepared PC stations.
