Turrell's practical examples seem almost utopian: he increased his personal productivity twentyfold within a year. He used to create one project proposal per day - now it's up to 30. Instead of ten contacts, he now maintains 150 personalized follow-ups. This leap is the result of a consistent orchestration of AI tools that is fundamentally changing knowledge work.

The looming employment crisis

But progress has its downsides. Turrell warns of a massive crisis on the labor market in the next 15 years. The discrepancy between the education system and the AI economy is huge. An example from his company illustrates the explosive nature of this: he would theoretically need 20 employees for his current output - in reality, he manages the workload with just two employees and AI. Company growth therefore no longer necessarily leads to new job creation.

Architecture instead of blind faith

Despite the euphoria, Turrell remains a realist. He describes current language models as "approximated intelligence" that occasionally produces errors. A simple prompt is not enough for serious business use; a complex architecture of verification, intelligent data management and human quality control is required.

UnDavos and the future of mankind

With his "UnDavos" initiative, Turrell is also creating an inclusive counterpoint to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in order to generate practical solutions in areas such as AI and health tech.

In ten years' time, it is estimated that AI will be able to perform 98% of tasks better than humans. According to Turrell, our niche remains in critical thinking, genuine creativity and physical presence. Success will accompany those who see lifelong learning as a survival strategy and collaborate with AI instead of competing against it.

EqualVoice uses a semantic algorithm to measure the presence of women in print and online media. The latest figures show: In Switzerland, seven out of ten Ringier Medien print titles have achieved better gender parity. Digital Ringier publications such as the Observer (43,2 %), L'illustré (41.1 %) and the Swiss Illustrated (44.18 %) recorded a very positive development.

AI bias as a challenge for diversity

At the World Economic Forum Wef, EqualVoice, Microsoft Switzerland and IMD presented a white paper on the topic of bias in generative AI. The study warns that unreflected training data can reinforce existing prejudices. "It is crucial that responsible AI is not seen as an afterthought, but is a fundamental and integral part of the development and implementation process from the outset," says Ann Jameson, COO of Microsoft Switzerland on the use of AI.

More partners for "EqualVoice United"

FS Parker, the Zurich airport region and Russell Reynolds Associates are also now part of "EqualVoice United". The network now comprises 23 companies that are committed to diversity in the Swiss economy.

Petra Ehmann in 2024 Class of Young Global Leaders des WEF aufgenommen https://www.markt-kom.com/en/medien/petra-ehmann-in-2024-class-of-young-global-leaders-des-wef-aufgenommen/ Fri, 05 Apr 2024 10:29:00 +0000 https://www.markt-kom.com/?p=213188

The World Economic Forum WEF has 2024 Class of Young Global Leaders announced. Petra Ehmann, Chief Innovation and AI Officer at Ringier, is one of the new members of the diverse and dynamic group of almost 90 changemakers under the age of 40 whose innovative contributions are setting the pace for a better future. She was nominated for her "outstanding leadership qualities and her pioneering role in the fields of technology and innovation", according to a press release. The Class of Young Global Leaders YGL consists of young leaders from politics, business, civil society, the arts and science who are committed to sustainable change.

In 2024, the YGL Forum will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The community is committed to making significant, positive change around the world in various areas such as public health, economic development, technology and sustainability, according to the statement. Throughout its history, the YGL community has produced leaders who have gone on to become Pulitzer Prize winners, UN ambassadors, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and even heads of state.

Members of the YGL Class of 2024 will be part of a three-year leadership development program. This will provide them with access to a range of educational events, learning journeys, networking and collaboration opportunities with high-profile individuals, companies and institutions. The initiative aims to strengthen their ability to accelerate positive change, as well as support the World Economic Forum's commitment to developing responsible leaders for a better world.

"This award not only recognizes Petra's remarkable achievements, but also gives her the opportunity to engage with and learn from global thought leaders, enriching our collective intellectual and professional ecosystem," said Marc Walder, CEO of Ringier. "Since Petra Ehmann assumed the role of Chief Innovation Officer at Ringier on July 1, 2022, and has also recently taken on the role of AI Innovation Lead at Group level, she has played a crucial role in steering our strategic focus on artificial intelligence. We are confident that her involvement in the Young Global Leader Class will further strengthen our mission to foster a culture of innovation and leadership that transcends boundaries."

WEF kämpft gegen Falschinformationen in sozialen Medien https://www.markt-kom.com/en/digital/social-media/wef-kaempft-gegen-falschinformationen-in-sozialen-medien/ Fri, 19 Jan 2024 13:00:28 +0000 https://www.markt-kom.com/?p=209066

They are deceptively real videos showing speeches on the podium of the World Economic Forum WEF that never actually took place. Images generated by artificial intelligence AI that spread false information about the annual meeting.

"This is an extremely relevant topic for us," said Zwinggi in an interview with the Keystone-SDA news agency. A risk report published by the WEF organization further underlines the problem: experts believe that misinformation will be the greatest threat to the global community over the next two years.

This so-called fake news is particularly problematic this year because around 4.2 billion people will be voting in 2024. The European elections and the election of a new US president are on the political agenda. Zwinggi said that the WEF was therefore very concerned with how democratic processes could be ensured. He also announced an initiative with media companies dedicated to the responsible use of AI.

In addition, it is all the more important to make the WEF accessible to the public because of the fake news, so that it does not come to nothing. The Open Forum - a public podium outside the congress center - was full to capacity every day. On Thursday, a group of 20 Davos residents were shown around the cordoned-off area. The presentations by the top-class speakers will be streamed live on YouTube.

Criticism of free riders

Zwinggi also criticized the countless free riders who used the WEF to advertise their companies on the Davos promenade. During a walk on Friday last week, he noticed that a World Crypto Forum was being advertised. Without further ado, he returned with a lawyer. By Sunday, this forum no longer existed. "We have to protect our trademark rights," Zwinggi emphasized.

Unfortunately, the number of free riders has returned to pre-coronavirus pandemic levels. The town of Davos normally has a population of just over 12,000. During the WEF week, this figure rises to over 40,000 people. This shows the massive parallel universe of the forum, whose guest numbers have remained constant at 2,800 people for ten years.

This is accompanied by horrendous prices for accommodation. The level this year is significantly higher than before the coronavirus pandemic. The guests of the forum receive a hotel room from the WEF organization. "We were able to negotiate good conditions for this," says Zwinggi. The high prices for apartments were generated by free riders for free riders. (SDA/ Mayka Frepp)

Swiss Digital Initiative geht am WEF mit Digital Trust Label international https://www.markt-kom.com/en/digital/swiss-digital-initiative-geht-am-wef-mit-digital-trust-label-international/ Mon, May 23, 2022 3:15:12 PM +0000 https://www.markt-kom.com/?p=171720 Digital Trust Label internationalIn January 2022, the Swiss Digital Initiative launched the first Digital Trust Label. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the SDI announced that the label has since been awarded to five Swiss companies and their digital services, and that 14 more companies have committed to undergo the process for the label in 2022.

In addition, Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein is the first non-profit organization to add another level of trust to its online donation process with the label.

With the app of the German company Wefox, the Digital Trust Label is awarded outside of Switzerland for the first time. With the label pilot project for a German company, the Swiss Digital Initiative is opening up the label application process to European organizations that are committed to digital responsibility.

The Digital Trust Label is meant to express the trustworthiness of a digital application or app in a clear, visual, and non-technical language that everyone can understand. Similar to an organic label or a nutritional value chart, the Digital Trust Label serves as a seal of trust in the digital world.

Digital Trust: 19 organizations are already on board

The Digital Trust Label, launched in January 2022, was awarded to five Swiss companies and their digital services. The first Digital Trust pioneers are Swiss Re, Swisscom and Credit Suisse, as well as the two startups, PeopleWeek and Credit Exchange. 14 other organizations are committed to digital responsibility and will go through the process to receive the Digital Trust Label in 2022. Their digital services will be assessed against 35 criteria across four dimensions: Security, Privacy, Reliability and Fair User Interaction. The criteria catalog was created by a special label expert committee led by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and further developed based on feedback from several public consultations.

Pioneering digital trust and responsibility in Europe

Wefox, the innovative insurtech company, will soon become the first non-Swiss company to apply the label to its app. At the SDI media conference at WEF 2022, Julian Teicke, CEO of Wefox, said, "As a digital insurer, we know that trust must be earned in the digital world. We are proud to be among the first to receive the Digital Trust Label. We will work with the Swiss Digital Initiative to make digital trust not just a priority, but a movement from Europe to the world."

Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein is the first non-profit organization that will start using the label for its online donation process. Bettina Junker, Director Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein: "It is a key concern for us that supporters of Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein can rely on a secure handling of their data and that our donation process meets the highest standards of digital responsibility."

In Switzerland, too, the digital responsibility of companies is writ large. With Coop.ch, the first Swiss retailer has committed to undergoing the audit process and making its service even more user-oriented. Philipp Wyss, CEO Coop: "Coop stands for the highest sustainability and quality. Our customers are our top priority. This also applies to the trustworthiness of our digital experience."

Organizations from all over Europe can apply

With the first Label Pilot for a German company, the Swiss Digital Initiative is opening up the application process to companies across Europe that are committed to digital responsibility.

Doris Leuthard, former Federal Councilor and President of the Swiss Digital Initiative: "We are proud to have Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein as the first non-profit organization and Wefox as the first European use case for the Digital Trust Label. The market leaders of the future are organizations that live digital responsibility."

Niniane Paeffgen, Managing Director Swiss Digital Initiative adds, "The label acts as a soft law tool and enables organizations to go one step further in terms of digital responsibility by putting the principles into practice."
