Benno Schmid takes over as Head of Communication and Policy at WaldSchweiz. He thus bears overall responsibility for the three specialist areas of communication, politics and specialist media.

The 54-year-old studied contemporary history and journalism at the University of Fribourg. He also earned a federal diploma as a PR consultant and completed a CAS in social media.

Benno Schmid began his professional career as a junior consultant and PR editor at a PR agency in the Zurich region. He then took on management positions in communications at the Schaffhausen Police Department and at the Department of Construction, Transport and Environment of the Canton of Aargau. Most recently, Schmid was Head of Communications at the Federal Roads Office Astra.

Benno Schmid took up his new position at WaldSchweiz in mid-July 2023. He succeeds Florian Landolt, who has accepted a new professional challenge.
