The 68th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 15 to 25, 2018. Due to continued success, the Bear campaign created by Velvet will continue in 2018. Berlinale posters throughout Berlin set the mood for the upcoming festival. In 2018, Velvet sends the bears to lofty heights. The six poster motifs show the bear on the dome of the Berlin Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate and on the world clock at Alexanderplatz, among others. New: a polar bear enjoying himself in a hot tub above the rooftops of Berlin.

On November 24 and 25, 2017, the Lucerne School of Art and Design will open its doors to anyone interested in studying design, film or art. The decision to study Design & Art is accompanied by many questions. At the information days, interested parties can find out more about the content and structure of the degree courses. Lecturers and students are available to answer specific questions about the world of study and provide an insight into their personal specialist areas and the place of study. Future students can take a look at the workshops, studios and classrooms at the Viscosistadt and Sentimatt sites and see what work is being produced there.
The Lucerne School of Art and Design places visitors at the heart of the Info Days. The poster designed by Velvet and the movie clip for the Info Days also follow this idea. Visitors are placed at the center and addressed directly. The cinema clip shows a colorful mix of personalities - perhaps the next generation of students at the Lucerne School of Art and Design.

Mobility in Switzerland is growing - especially public transport. According to federal forecasts, public passenger transport will increase by over 50 percent by 2040. In Central Switzerland, the growth scenario looks similar. In view of the massive growth in public transport, sustainable concepts are needed. With the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel 2 and the Lucerne through station, Central Switzerland has two optimally coordinated projects on the go that will benefit not only the region, but all of Switzerland. Velvet is supporting the cantons of Central Switzerland in their campaign for the two projects, which is intended to make the concerns of Central Switzerland visible in Federal Berne.

The Art Directors Club for Germany has awarded 40 gold, 124 silver and 201 bronze nails from over 7000 entries in this year's ADC competition. Among them is the campaign developed by Velvet for the German Theater (DT) in Berlin, which received a silver nail. The campaign was also awarded bronze at the Swiss ADC competition in April.
The poster campaign for the season opening in Berlin takes up the central theme of "fear", manifesting it through a direct and in-depth headline and surprising image montages.

The Swiss Folic Acid Foundation has been working for 17 years to better inform the Swiss people about the importance of the life vitamin folic acid. The life vitamin is especially important for expectant mothers.
At least 1 month before conception and until the twelfth week of pregnancy, every expectant mother needs twice the amount of folic acid to minimize the risk of open back at birth.
In over 89 countries, folic acid is therefore added to flour. In Switzerland, a parliamentary initiative aimed at doing the same failed. The founding president Erich Meyer as well as the foundation president and former ski star Maria Walliser were all the more personally committed to closing the prevailing "folic acid gap".

The foundation's efforts are having an effect. Today, over 75 percent of Swiss people are aware of the vitamin folic acid. In 2000, this figure was still below 40 percent. Another encouraging development is that over 300 products containing folic acid were successfully launched on the market during the same period. Among others, by well-known foundation partners such as Migros, Hug, Wander, the Hochdorf Group and practically all mills in Switzerland.
Despite these successes, there is still a lot to be done - at various levels. For example, the educational work is being consistently pursued and also extended to social media. The foundation's range of activities also continues to include organizing specialist lectures and supporting young people affected by the consequences of folic acid deficiency during pregnancy.
New look, focus on the label
Velvet's strategic focus is on the foundation's label, because products with an extra portion of folic acid can be recognized throughout Switzerland by the folic acid label on the packaging. For this reason, it has been redesigned both graphically and textually and will soon shine in new splendor on many well-known brands such as Blévita, Dar-Vida, Hug Zwieback & Co.

In addition to the label, the Swiss Folic Acid Foundation was completely revamped: new imagery, website, campaigns, moving images and, in addition, customizable partner advertising materials were created.

Schaffhuser on the book: "Lucerne, the center of my life, served as the starting point for each of the four hiking routes. I took my tent, diary and camera in my rucksack. The route to the north ends in Inverness. A hike that was chronically under a meteorological low. There is no destination for the east, you could go on forever, on the Silk Road to China for example, if only the tendon in your ankle didn't rebel. Southwards to Catania, the black city on Mount Etna. I decided to take the coastal route. In doing so, I discover how far the south of Italy has moved away from the north. The destination in the west, Lisbon, the white city by the sea, but also the gateway to the new world. And for the many stranded people I meet, also the city of hope. After walking 12,108 kilometers, I arrived at the destination of the hiking project. The publication 'Thank you for going the distance' shows a personal view of being on the road with text and pictures."

The artistic director of the Deutsches Theater Berlin comments on the season's theme. "Fear nests on various levels. In social terms, there are the issues of globalization, acceleration, transparency, the media, plus the excesses of communication. All of this initially comes to the individual like an opportunity, but quickly becomes a threat, because it opens up a huge field of possibilities that makes him shrink again as an individual if he is not personally able to actually use one for himself among the thousand options."
Velvet's poster campaign for the season opening in Berlin takes up the central theme of "fear", manifesting it through a direct and in-depth headline and surprising image montages.
The "fear" depicted on the poster appears multilayered and controversial on the pictorial level through its connection with the puppet show. In addition to the obvious main motif, it thus receives further variants of interpretation, which take on their own irritating narrative dynamics.

The Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg has made the comeback it had hoped for. Director Karin Beier can look back with pleasure on her third and most successful season to date. She has the backing of multiple award-winning ensemble members, two invitations to the current Theatertreffen and excellent audience figures, with Edgar Selge's solo "Unterwerfung" forming a remarkable peak with 100 percent occupancy. The upcoming 2016/17 season will also be promising. The image campaign designed by Velvet, which will be displayed in public spaces in Hamburg to mark the opening of the season, is ambiguous.

The Werkschau Design & Kunst marks the completion of studies and the transition into professional life and is thus also the first point of contact with future clients. The action days mark the end of the master's program in art. Here, students have the task of developing artistic or mediating projects that revolve around concrete themes, places and actors. Velvet developed the idea and setting of the two motifs in collaboration with former graduates of the university.

1. you could swap your smartphone with someone else's for a day. Would you? And if so, with whom?
Sorry. Besides Johnny Depp, Paul Smith and Karl Lagerfeld, I'm probably the only one left who doesn't own a cell phone.
2. where and how have you ever bluffed in your life?
In the early days of the agency, we were able to invite Stimorol Switzerland to an agency presentation. Without further ado, we doubled the team to six employees. Unfortunately, the supposed secretary didn't know where the coffee machine was, which irritated the client a bit. The theater blew up, but the marketing manager was visibly taken with our acting and commissioned us as the lead agency for Switzerland.
3. what was the most fun lunch partner?
The lunch with Gianna Nannini and Edoardo Bennato on the occasion of the presentation of a record cover. The location: Giorgio Moroder's private apartment in Milan. Shrill, quirky, emotional. In the middle of the table, a Murano glass turtle suspiciously watched the action.
4. what would you work for free?
Happens to me all the time.
5. was there a moment in your life when you thought: Wow. This is awesome. And it's from me!
In 1989, as art director at Publicis, I created the international Swatch campaign. This is quoted by Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar in the movie "Carne Trémula".
6. what would you not promote under any circumstances?
For the SVP.
7. what do you think about owned media?
I think that's great.
8. is the opinion true that you can't grow old in agencies, or is that a prejudice?
I'm 56. High time to ask my employees about it.
9. what is it impossible for you to do without?
To hiking. Preferably crisscrossing Europe.
10. name a campaign that has recently caught your eye in a positive way - but did not originate with you.
Ruf Lanz's campaign for the Haus Konstruktiv.
11. can you tell us a little secret?
What is Owned Media?
12. what are you determined to achieve?
The flight to Berlin to the award ceremony of the Berlinale.
13: Where do you see the biggest challenge for the advertising industry at the moment?
Do not lose humor and passion at work. True to our slogan: Business as pleasure.
Jürg Schaffhuser is CD at Velvet Creative Office. The agency he co-founded in Lucerne in 1995 manages national and international budgets. Among them numerous cultural institutions. In addition to the Schauspielhaus Hamburg and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the current appearance for the Berlinale is causing quite a stir.

Double honor for Velvet: The Art Directors Club for Germany awarded 28 gold, 103 silver, 172 bronze nails and 227 awards at this year's ADC competition. Among them was the campaign developed by Velvet for the German Theater in Berlin. Velvet is the only Swiss agency to win one of the highly coveted golden nails. At the same time, the campaign for the current edition of the Lürzer's archive selected.
Velvet uses the Bible as a content prompter for the campaign (Werbewoche.ch reports) and manages to convince with a direct and politically tinged visual language.
