Renowned opinion leaders and experts from the national and international media, telecommunications and advertising industries will once again debate the future of TV as a medium in Zurich this year. Highlights include presentations by Yaser Bishr, Executive Director of Strategy and Development at Al Jazeera Media Network, Robert King, Creative Director Video at Bild.de and Christoph Krachten, Co-Founder and President of Mediakraft Networks.
On November 27, 2014, the fourth edition of the TV 2.0 Summit on the future of TV will take place at the Bernhard Theater in Zurich, this year under the motto "Catch 'em if you can" and with the central question of how media companies, telecommunications providers and advertisers will reach their viewers and customers in the future in the course of rapid digital development.
This year's program highlights include Yaser Bishr, Executive Director of Strategy and Development at Al Jazeera Media Network with his keynote speech "Connected Platforms: Rethinking News in the Al Jazeera Media Network" and the appearance of Robert King, Director Video at Bild.de, former star reporter at Vice Magazine.
In addition to the presentations, there will be three panel discussions. While representatives from Swiss Radio and Television SRF, McDonald's Switzerland, AZ Medien and NZZ will discuss the (digital) TV landscape in Switzerland in the morning, there will be one panel each on marketing topics and audience measurement methods in the afternoon. The day's event will be moderated by Andrea Vetsch, presenter of the news magazine "10 vor 10" on Swiss radio and television SRF. Werbewoche is media partner, NZZ is the new main media partner and will report on the TV 2.0 Summit with a live blog, among other things. Further information on the program and registration options can be found at Tv2summit.com to find. The number of tickets is limited.
In addition to TV experts from German-speaking countries such as Volker Herres (Program Director Das Erste), Ingrid Deltenre (General Director EBU) or Alexander Mazzara (CEO and Founder Joiz), Daniel Heaf (Chief Digital Officer BBC Worldwide), one of the leading experts in the field of digital strategies and innovation, Daniel Panto (Digital Manager at Endemol), Andreas Briese (Strategic Partner Development Manager at YouTube), Dirk Specht (Head of Business Development Electronic Media at FAZ), Doron Hacmon (Managing Director Products and Online Media Group at Liberty Global) and Arndt C. Groth (CEO Publigroupe), international TV giants will also provide insights into successful business models, strategies and marketing concepts in the future TV business. And Dirk Specht emphasizes: "The decisive competition in the digital markets has long been taking place beyond content: It's about the digitalization of (business) processes. This is a question of technology and business models."
In the sold-out Kaufleuten Klubsaal, interesting and forward-looking statements were made in front of an international audience. Volker Herres observed that Internet usage is increasing, while television usage remains stable. "The internet has not yet taken anything away from television. Nevertheless, television will have to change."
In terms of future trends, Daniel Heaf believes that the ratio of live TV to on-demand usage will change significantly in favor of the latter over the next five or six years. "Today, most people still watch TV in real time. But that will change rapidly. Live TV will continue to dominate usage behavior, but even 25% on-demand would be a spectacular change." And Ingrid Deltenre states: "If you want to have a vibrant media landscape, there is no way around the public service model."
In addition to renowned representatives, young voices and TV concepts were also heard, including Lukas Hotz, CEO and co-founder of Layzapp with the beta launch of their second screen app. The date of next year's edition has already been set: the fourth edition of the TV 2.0 Summit will take place on November 27, 2014.

The TV 2.0 Summit brings together decision-makers and experts from the fields of media, publishing, agencies, advertising and marketing communication and provides a platform for questions about the future of TV as an entertainment and communication medium. The motto of this year's TV 2.0 Summit is "Will everything remain different?" and is dedicated to the question of what successful business models, strategies and marketing concepts can look like in the age of web, hybrid and digital TV in the face of rapid digital development and what new opportunities this offers advertisers. The focus is on learning from successful models and the active networking of the various market players.

As a print representative Dirk Specht (Head of Business Development Electronic Media at FAZ) is certain: "The TV market will experience a similar structural development to print." The signs of this are similar to when it all began for print publishers: "Growth is obviously no longer there and profit increases are only possible through cost-cutting and consolidation measures." In particular, he sees the business model of TV broadcasters under threat and, as with print, fears the mistake of not developing new models in digital markets. Excerpts from Dirk Specht's analysis of the moving image business are available at Tv2summit.ch to find.
Specht's theses will also be addressed at the TV 2.0 Summit by renowned opinion leaders and experts from the national and international media and advertising industry, as detailed in a press release. From the head of digital at the renowned BBC Worldwide to ARD programme director Volker Herres: they and many more will meet at Zurich's Kaufleuten on 28 November 2013 to discuss the TV business of the future in presentations and panel discussions - including the successful monetization of content. Werbewoche is once again the media partner of this year's event.

After two completely sold-out events in 2011 and 2012, this year's industry event will take place in the larger Kaufleuten Club Hall. The theme of this year's edition is "Will everything stay the same?". This year's debate on the future of television as a medium will be launched by Volker Herres. The journalist and presenter of the "ARD Press Club" has been program director of the ARD joint program "Das Erste" since 2008. Further speakers from BBC Worldwide, Endemol, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and YouTube, among others, have been confirmed. The event will be hosted by Andrea Vetsch, Swiss Radio and Television.

Just like last year, the TV 2.0 Summit 2012 is completely sold out. One of the highlights was the mammoth panel discussion with Roger de Weck, Christoph Bauer, Christian Petit and Roger Schawinski. The date for the 2013 edition has already been set, according to Tv2summit.ch. The third edition will take place on November 28, 2013 - for the first time in the Kaufleuten Klubsaal.

On November 29, 2012, the second TV 2.0 Summit will take place in Zurich's Kaufleuten. Once again, opinion leaders and experts from the national and international TV scene will meet in Zurich to debate business models, strategies and marketing concepts in the TV business of the future, among other things, or to discuss which TV technologies will prevail in the future.
A highlight will be the international afternoon block. Lars Krüger, for example, will be one of the speakers from YouTube. He is at the forefront of TV development at the world's largest video portal. Youtube has just communicated the launch of the "Original Channels" in Germany and the optimization of Content ID - steps that let Youtube become a serious opponent of the classic TV stations in the fight for advertising money. "With speakers from Youtube, Samsung or even Bild.de, we deliberately want to look beyond the borders - the international orientation is important for Swiss media houses," explains Marco Demont, initiator of the TV 2.0 Summit.
According to the announcement, only a few tickets are still available for the TV 2.0 Summit 2012 (Tv2summit.ch).

International and national speakers and experts from the TV scene - including Roger de Weck (SRG), Christoph Bauer (AZ Medien), Christian Petit (Swisscom) and Roger Schawinski (Radio 1) - will meet at Zurich's Kaufleuten on November 29 for the second TV 2.0 Summit. They will debate business models, strategies and marketing concepts in the TV business of the future and discuss which TV technologies will prevail in the future. Specialists such as B. Bonin Bough (Head of Global Media and Consumer Engagement at Kraft Foods), Lars Krüger (Project Manager Content ID YouTube) and Vassilis Seferidis (Director of Business Development at Samsung) will also shed light on the topic from their own perspectives.
As a media partner, Werbewoche is giving away two tickets worth CHF 690 each for the event. If you are interested, please send an e-mail by Monday, September 17, with the following details to [email protected]:

The event opened with a forward-looking review by Helmut Thoma. "I have already seen various futures in the past," TV veteran Helmut Thoma introduced himself to the audience. The founder of RTL estimated that he had probably already appeared as an expert in over a thousand such discussion panels on the future of television since 1984. "I could portray every panel member myself." On the subject of "technical development", Thoma remained matter-of-fact: "The biggest technical revolution was the switch from black and white to color in 1967. The rest are technical enhancements". But some of them were definitely worthwhile: "Radio RTL is a kind of license to print money, simply without using paper."
Later, television was also able to take a slice of the advertising money pie. However, this required a rethink: "We discovered a completely new target group: the viewers. Before, we only knew fee payers." However, Thoma doubts that they now want a completely different kind of television: "Turning a couch potato into an active employee is expecting too much." Apart from the fact that interactive television is nothing new: "We've had interactive television for a long time with the button to switch it on and off."
Thoma also exaggerates the hype surrounding digital television: "If I push a pallet of yogurt into the supermarket on an electric scooter, that's not electric yogurt either." For the private TV pioneer, every technology reaches a point where development comes to an end. "Quadrophony has failed because we only have two ears. The very high frequencies only interest the dog anyway." And when it comes to content, the former head of broadcasting at "Tutti Frutti" has little hope: "Since the first Greek comedy or tragedy in antiquity, they've always shown the same thing, people are just dressed differently."
Thoma also expects little new in terms of news: "It's no longer possible to report closer to the event than you can today live from a tsunami or war. That would be in the realm of clairvoyance." And Helmut Thoma had even less faith in the future when it came to advertising: "Advertising is one of the most conservative areas imaginable." Nevertheless, he offered a small glimmer of hope: "Once advertisers get moving, much more will be possible with the moving image." (Summary: Andreas Panzeri)
They will also show what opportunities this offers advertisers. At the practice-oriented lunch panel, experts will also discuss the question of whether advertising on Internet television is just hype or the future. The TV 2.0 Summit is aimed at cross-industry decision-makers and experts from the media, advertising and marketing sectors.
In addition to Stailamedia (sponsor), Mediatec (partner) and Samsung (exhibitor), Goldbach Media (sponsor) and the Swiss web TV provider Teleboy (exhibitor) are now on board as partners. Tickets are still available for the TV 2.0 Summit on November 17, 2011 in Zurich. Register online at Tv2summit.ch.
