After 2009 and 2011 (Werbewoche.ch reported), the third edition of the Swiss Hotel Film Award is now being held under the motto: "You are welcome!". "The motto focuses on hospitality as an emotionally charged topic," says Guglielmo Brentel, President of Hotelleriesuisse. "It is intended to inspire filmmakers and can be interpreted in all possible ways."
Until April 15, 2013, the concept ideas can be submitted to Swisshotelfilmaward.ch can be entered. At the same time, Hotelleriesuisse member hotels can now apply to be a filming location. "The Festival Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern supported the film crew wherever possible and was able to provide hotel guests and employees with an exciting experience on a film set," says Clemens Hunziker, Director of the Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern and host of the winning film crew from 2011 and jury member in 2013.
Evaluation by expert jury and internet community
The expert jury nominates 20 projects from the submitted concepts, which are then filmed in a Swiss hotel for a maximum of two days. The finished films will also be judged by the internet community on the Swisshotelfilmaward.ch website. The highlight of the competition is the award ceremony on September 19, 2013 in Zurich. The award is endowed with a total of CHF 15,000. The expert jury is made up of experts from the film scene and representatives of the hotel industry from all parts of Switzerland. They are Sabine Boss (director), Philippe Clivaz (Visions du Réel), Madeleine Hirsiger (film expert), Clemens Hunziker (director of Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne), Mohan Mani (film editor), Christoph Schaub (director) and Daniel J. Ziegler (director of Relais & Châteaux Hotel Le Vieux Manoir, Murten).
]]>Second place went to "Salty Times" by Stefan Eichenberger, while third place went to "Home Sweet Hotel" by Alfonso Gordillo. The audience award went to Alejandro Gasser Daza with "Stille Post". The short film competition for the Swiss hotel industry was initiated by Hotelleriesuisse and took place for the second time after the first edition in 2009.
Ten of the 20 nominated films were screened at the awards ceremony, including the winners of the first, second and third prizes and the Audience Award. The expert jury was made up of Fulvio Bernasconi (director), Jacques Bettex (Best Western Eurotel Riviera, Montreux), Sabine Boss (director), Philippe Clivaz (Visions du Réel), Madeleine Hirsiger (film editor) and Philipp Roggensinger (Dasbreitehotel). The jury was chaired by film editor Mohan Mani. The star guest of the evening was actor Anatole Taubmann, who gave the audience an insight into his film career. Model Xenia Tchoumitcheva talked about her experiences with hotels. She played the leading role in this year's Call for entry film. The evening was hosted by Sven Epiney.

The Swiss Hotel Film Award was organized by Hotelleriesuisse for the first time in 2009 with the aim of actively promoting the image of the Swiss hotel industry and highlighting new ways of marketing hotels. The competition invites professional, up-and-coming and amateur filmmakers to creatively explore the topic of hotels and opens hotel doors to attractive filming locations.
The competition has a two-stage structure: In the first phase, participants submit their film concepts, which will be judged by a jury of experts. The deadline for submitting concepts is March 31, 2011, and the jury will announce the nomination of twenty projects on May 12. The nominations also mark the start of the second phase - filming at the hotel. The film crew has a maximum of two days to realize the scripts. The duration of the films is limited to a maximum of five minutes. The participating filmmakers indicate their hotel preference when submitting the concept. All Hotelleriesuisse member hotels have the opportunity to apply to Hotelleriesuisse by March 31 as a location for the maximum two-day film shoot.
The submitted films are not only reviewed by the expert jury, but are also presented on the website Swisshotelfilmaward.ch also the judgment of the internet community. The expert jury is made up of connoisseurs of the film scene and representatives of the hotel industry from all parts of Switzerland. The jury awards for the three best entries and the audience award will be presented on August 25 at the Arena Filmcity in Sihlcity Zurich. The total prize money amounts to CHF 20,000.
