Anyone who opts for Sunrise Up TV XL gets the Netflix subscription for free. This add-on makes the entertainment offer not only particularly attractive for many, but also particularly inspiring. After all, Netflix's series content often accompanies us beyond the sofa, encouraging us to dream and take bold action.
This insight, which pays off the Sunrise promise "Dream Big. Do Big." is the theme of the current product campaign. It shows how original quotes from popular series such as "Stranger Things," "The Crown," "Squid Game," "Narcos," and "Emily in Paris" creep into normal life and make for entertaining conversations. To make sure that not only fans of a certain series recognize the quotes, a frame shows where they come from - precisely to the series, episode and second.
The campaign includes various moving image formats for TV and online, online ads, print ads and POS material. Netflix quotes are also used in the stills - characters from various Netflix series recommend Sunrise Up TV with their statements.

In the months July to September, the company generated sales of 763.7 million Swiss francs, 1.5 percent more than in the same period last year. Adjusted operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), however, fell 2.3 percent to 292.1 million Swiss francs, the company said Wednesday.
The decline in EBITDA was mainly attributable to lower average revenue per customer in the fixed-network business due to subscription losses and investments in the Yallo brand and digitization projects, the statement said.
In the reporting period, Sunrise recorded a significant increase of 57,600 in the number of postpaid subscriptions. The broadband segment remained largely unchanged, for which Sunrise primarily blames the gradual phasing out of the UPC brand in its statement.
Sales in the residential mobile segment rose to CHF 319.3 million (+3.3 percent). As in previous quarters, Sunrise recorded the greatest growth in the corporate customer business. Sunrise Business achieved a sales increase of 12.3 percent to CHF 144.2 million in the third quarter. Numerous new contracts and extensions, as well as upgrades of existing mandates, contributed to this growth. The second brand Yallo was also a driver of growth, but Sunrise did not provide detailed figures.
There was a further decline in business with fixed-network residential customers (including Internet, TV and telephone). Here, revenue decreased by 4.7 percent to CHF 300.2 million.

The second quarter was one of the most intensive in the integration of Sunrise and UPC, said company CEO André Krause in an interview with news agency AWP on Friday. He said the new Sunrise unified brand was introduced and a new product portfolio was launched. The Sunrise UPC company was renamed Sunrise. The total cost of the change was 43.6 million francs.
Following the significant increase at the start of the year, sales from April to June stagnated at 739.1 million Swiss francs. This is a slight minus of 0.3 percent. Meanwhile, segment-adjusted operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 0.5 percent to CHF 266.8 million, the number two Swiss telecom provider announced. Excluding integration costs, EBITDA would have increased by a significant 4.1 percent, said CFO Jany Fruytier.
Before the brand change, advertising for the UPC brand was scaled back. As a result, fewer new customers were acquired, which led to a net loss of broadband customers, Krause explained. As a result, sales to fixed-network residential customers (including Internet, TV and telephone) fell by 4.6 percent to CHF 304.2 million.
However, he said the dip in customers was only a temporary effect. "We will make up for it," said Krause. That is why he is not losing any sleep.
In contrast, Sunrise continued to grow in mobile communications. The number of subscription customers rose by a good 47,000, and prepaid customers also increased. Mobile phone sales to private customers grew by 3.6 percent to CHF 295.5 million. Sales to corporate customers also increased by 1.8 percent to CHF 136.4 million.
The new product portfolio has been very well received. Demand for the bundled subscriptions has been very good, he said. "I am very pleased with the numbers given the brand change," Krause said.
In addition to the renewal of products and the brand, the partnership with the fiber optic network provider Swiss Fibre Net was expanded in the second quarter. Sunrise secured long-term usage rights for access to the fiber-optic networks of all Swiss Fibre Net network partners in all parts of Switzerland.
This will enable the second-largest telecoms group to broaden its coverage outside its own cable network and not rely solely on Swisscom's fiber-optic network. (SDA)

On June 2, Mediapulse celebrated its own development. After six months of parallel operation, the TV industry gathered to conclude the joint project, share experiences with the new data and toast the changeover on July 1, 2022.
Mediapulse CEO Tanja Hackenbruch opened the event with a tour d'horizon of the development period: from the first declarations of intent in 2014 to the actual project launch under Tanja Hackenbruch and Mirko Marr. Tanja Hackenbruch said she was proud of this in-house development. She also reviewed the intensive cooperation with various parties and thanked the service providers Genistat (programming/modeling) and Kantar (panel operator), the data partners Swisscom and Sunrise (formerly UPC), the broadcasters and marketers for their broad cooperation, Bakom for its constant support and, of course, the project managers at Mediapulse, Mirko Marr and Andreas Thaller, as well as the entire Mediapulse team.
Then representatives of the Swiss market presented their views on the new TV currency. First, Andrea Haemmerli, Managing Director Seven. One Entertainment Group Schweiz AG, spoke about Hi-Res TV Data from a broadcaster's point of view. She was pleased about the granular values for program planning and the increase in stability in the data.
Next, Frank Zelger, CEO Admeira, spoke about Hi-Res TV Data from a marketer's perspective. He welcomed the introduction of the new currency, but stressed the importance of reliable daily implementation in the operational business. And finally, Michael Selz, Managing Partner Insights & Strategy at OMG Switzerland, brought in the agency perspective on Hi-Res TV Data. He was convinced that the new currency will help the medium of TV. This through more stable values for peak target groups and a clear proof of performance throughout the day.
This was followed by independent experts from Germany and abroad. Prof. Dr. Beat Hulliger from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, who accompanied the project as an external expert, presented statistical aspects of the hybridization of TV research. Hulliger considers the implemented solution as an optimal compromise between methodological and operational challenges. Laurence Deléchapt, Directrice TV et Cross Médias Médiamétrie (FRA), highlighted the approach of Médiamétrie in France as a comparison: panel and return path data: hybridization as an answer to the question of fragmentation. She admires Switzerland for its courage and determination to introduce the new currency on a broad basis.
This broad survey not only showed that the hybrid TV measurement system has already arrived in Switzerland and is widely accepted in the market - by broadcasters, marketers and agencies. It also showed that the approach meets the requirements of scientificity but also of economy and efficiency. And it ultimately confirmed that while similar approaches are also being pursued in many countries, Switzerland may take the pioneering role. This world premiere was subsequently celebrated until the early hours.
Tanja Hackenbruch, CEO Mediapulse: "I am very proud that after long, hard work we can now write research history. The fact that so many different market players have joined forces is unprecedented. In this way, we have been able to create an integrative force as a bridge builder and have made innovation possible. This makes me happy and I would like to sincerely thank all those involved."
Mirko Marr, Head of Research Mediapulse: "As a media researcher, it's not every day that you get the task of building the world's first hybrid TV measurement system with daily data production. And the risk of failing at this task is enormous. But twice improbable does not mean impossible. That's why we'd like to use today's event to thank all those who either gave us the job or saved us from failure."
The hybrid TV measurement system increases the granularity of TV usage data. In other words, it does not draw a new picture, but increases the resolution. The advantages are twofold: First, it can reduce the amount of so-called "zero blocks", i.e. advertising blocks whose usage is so low that it cannot be mapped by previous panel research. Second, the granular usage data also provides small stations with detailed usage patterns as a basis for analysis in program planning.
This project is based on data from around 160,000 set-top boxes from Swisscom and Sunrise (UPC). The corresponding set-top boxes are drawn as a random sample and renewed on an ongoing basis. This data provides a second-by-second picture of TV usage in the households behind the set-top boxes. Since information about the people in these households and their TV use is not available for reasons of data protection, this data is modeled using a method developed by Mediapulse. The TV measurement panel operated by Kantar and the socio-demographic data collected with it serve as a basis. The result is a large reservoir of so-called virtual panelists. The hybrid TV measurement system is now created by enriching the existing TV measurement panel with the usage information of around 15,000 virtual panelists from this reservoir. Mediapulse thus has a hybrid panel of around 20,000 real and virtual panelists, whose TV usage data is collected daily and extrapolated to the TV universe.

The merger of Sunrise and UPC at the end of 2020 was the elephant wedding in the Swiss telecommunications industry. At that time, Liberty Global - the parent company of UPC - took over Sunrise. Nevertheless, the new Sunrise UPC company is now again primarily relying on Sunrise as its brand from May 23, 2022.
Existing UPC customers will continue to receive their existing products and services under the UPC brand. Step by step, however, these customers will also be migrated to the new Sunrise products, the management explained. The UPC brand will thus disappear in the longer term and will no longer be continued At least for the time being, however, the company will continue to be called Sunrise UPC rather than just Sunrise. "Should that change, then we will inform in due course," CEO Krause said.
With the focus on Sunrise, the telecom group is also launching a repositioning including a new brand design - with a new symbol and new values - starting Monday. Thjnk Zurich is responsible for brand communication. The agency was able to prevail over the competition in a multi-stufigen pitch. The new brand identity was developed by London-based design and technology agency Rufus Leonard.
Sunrise wants to be more than a telecommunications provider - the brand should inspire and encourage people to realize their dreams. Because with positive energy and networked solutions, anything is possible. This is also what the new brand claim with the wording "Dream big. Do big." is also intended to convey this.
This attitude is reflected in the multi-stufigen funnel campaign across all advertising media. A 60-second manifesto film deliberately celebrates the ups and downs of life. And shows people who stick to their dream and their big plan, even when there is a headwind. People who stay positive, keep going and never give up - they are the ones who carry the attitude of Sunrise. Among them are ski star Marco Odermatt and tennis icon Roger Federer. The film is musically accompanied by a cover version of the Police song "Every little thing she does is magic", interpreted by Sleeping at last.
The new brand claim and the inviting messages are not only directed at Sunrise's customers, but explicitly at all employees as well. "Especially after such a large merger, it is important that all employees can build on a common vision and mission," says Andreas Caluori, Senior Director Brand & Marcoms at Sunrise.
Award-winning London-based design and technology agency Rufus Leonard has created a complete redesign for the revised positioning. This includes a new brand identity, the animated new logo, the "Aurora" which resembles a sunrise and is always placed on a horizon line, the definition of the imagery, co-branding principles, brand guidelines, POS concept as well as icons.
Existing UPC customers will continue to receive their existing products and services under the UPC brand. Step by step, however, these customers will also be migrated to the new Sunrise products, the management explained. The UPC brand will thus disappear in the longer term and will no longer be continued.
At least for now, however, the company will continue to be called not just Sunrise, but still Sunrise UPC. "Should that change, then we will inform in due course," said CEO Krause.
"We are reaching the most important milestone in the integration of Sunrise UPC," CEO André Krause is quoted as saying in the communiqué on the innovations. At the press conference, he added: "We've trained hard and built muscle in recent years." Now the company is ready for the future.
Under the name "Sunrise Up," Sunrise UPC is also launching the first integrated subscriptions that rely on the Sunrise brand. The principle is simple: if customers combine mobile communications, Internet and TV, they receive additional discounts. Depending on the choice, they amount to between CHF 20 and CHF 100 per month.
However, people who currently use the most expensive cell phone subscriptions from Sunrise benefit particularly from the new prices: "Up Mobile L" and "Up Mobile XL" now both cost 11 francs less per month than before, according to the comparison service Moneyland.
The price comparison conducted by Moneyland with industry leader Swisscom shows that Sunrise is slightly cheaper in each case with the new cell phone subscriptions. "Until now, Sunrise and Swisscom were practically the same price," explained Moneyland telecom expert Ralf Beyeler.
Overall, the comparison service concludes, Sunrise remains expensive for customers compared with other providers. "Sunrise is cheaper than before, but still one of the most expensive providers," it says in concrete terms.
Meanwhile, Sunrise has entered into a partnership with the streaming provider Netflix for its TV service. As a result, customers receive the US provider's movie and series offerings in a combined rate with the more expensive packages, and a separate subscription is no longer necessary. In addition, Sunrise UPC has also teamed up with CH Media for streaming. The Swiss streaming service Oneplus from the Aargau media company is included in most TV subscriptions in its Sunrise edition.
Incidentally, with "Sunrise Up" the Group clearly wants to position itself in the higher-priced segment - and thus compete with the top dog Swisscom. The more price-sensitive customers, on the other hand, are to be reached with the Yallo brand.
This was recently expanded into a full-fledged telecommunications provider with TV, mobile communications and Internet. Its offering is therefore primarily aimed at Swisscom's low-cost Wingo brand or Salt's products. (sda/csi)

]]>With Sunrise Starzone a new music platform has been launched. By networking major players in the music industry, a national music portfolio with top festivals, large music arenas with over 150 live concerts per year is created.
The three national partners of Starzone thus gain access to a unique benefit program for their customers. They benefit from exclusive ticket and VIP offers for concerts and festivals throughout Switzerland. The offer is complemented by a digital music platform with attractive content.
"The appetite for live music continues unabated, and Sunrise Starzone offers Swiss concert fans a comprehensive range of national and international artists," says a delighted Andreas Angehrn, CEO of Ticketcorner, adding, "With Starzone, we are turning the spotlight on Swiss concert stages after two years of uncertainty and supporting music creators with an innovative and attractive music program as they relaunch after the Corona crisis."
André Krause, CEO Sunrise UPC, says: "With Sunrise Starzone, we thank our customers with unique and unforgettable moments. They get even closer to their stars and benefit from many exclusive advantages."
The customers of the four partners are to receive many advantages in the Sunrise Starzone: Among other things, large ticket allotments, priority sales - i.e. early access to concert tickets and discounts through to last-minute tickets for around 150 concerts and major festivals each year. On site, Sunrise and Raiffeisen customers have access to specially designed "Sunrise Starzone Lounges" in the largest Swiss music halls, which can be reached via "Fastlane Access", as well as "Signature Drinks", DJs, bar service and more.
On the promoter side, the promoters AllBlues, Act Entertainment, Opus One, Live Nation, Good News as well as the Gadget Abc Entertainment Group, which was also brought on board as a competent strategic partner, bring the big artist names to the Sunrise Starzone. On the festival side, Open Air St.Gallen, Greenfield Festival, Heitere Open Air, Summerdays Festival, Seaside Festival, Zurich Open Air and Zoa City, Stars in Town and Venoge Festival are all on board. Sunrise Starzone lounges will go into operation at the Hallenstadion, Zurich's Volkshaus, Basel's St. Jakobshalle and the Arena de Genève. Other partners and locations are to follow.
Sunrise Starzone will remain present for music fans outside the events: At Starzone.ch a competent editorial team prepares music news, interviews, reports, previews and exciting playlists. And at Sunrise Starzone, the stars themselves also take up the pen. For the launch, Baschi, Naomi Lareine and Dabu will publish their inside view of music as authors. Other musicians and insiders are to follow.
"It is very important to us to strengthen music journalism in Switzerland," emphasizes Andreas Angehrn. "In recent years, this has been massively reduced in many editorial departments - especially when it comes to the socially and emotionally important topic of music.

However, the figures for 2021 are only comparable with those of previous years to a limited extent. As a result of the merger of Sunrise and UPC, Sunrise customers are now also included in the association. As a result, the number of customers increased significantly in all areas.
In the core business of television, Suissedigital members were able to expand their market share to 55. The number of customers rose by around 90,000 to 2.13 million. The association thus left Swisscom behind with a share of 41 percent. By comparison, Swisscom was able to slightly increase the number of its TV customers to around 1.6 million in 2021. Salt came to a share of 4 percent in 2021, according to the association.
The figures for TV customers of Suissedigital members are difficult to compare with the previous year, as Matthias Lüscher, Head of Public Relations, said at the request of AWP. Thus, the customer figures of Sunrise and UPC were consolidated in the calculation. The slight gains were attributable to Sunrise.
In the case of the other association members, the customer decline of previous years continued, Lüscher added. The decline was roughly at the level of 2020, i.e. slightly less than 100,000 customers.
Suissedigital members also made up considerable ground in broadband Internet. The number of customers rose by 570,000 to around 1.7 million. In addition to the addition of Sunrise, customers were also gained through the expansion of broadband Internet services and infrastructures, according to the association. The market share rose to 44 percent. However, Swisscom remains the market leader in high-speed Internet with a share of just over half.
The number of customers for mobile telephony literally exploded to 3.1 million from around 350,000 in the previous year thanks to Sunrise's contribution. Previously, only the association members Netplus, UPC and Quickline had launched their own mobile offerings. Sunrise also added around half a million fixed-network telephony customers to the association's network.
The Suissedigital association brings together around 180 companies organized under both private and public law. According to their own information, they supply more than 3 million homes and business units with radio, TV, Internet, telephony and other communications services. (SDA)

A good 14 years of cooperation with a constant team, as well as Mediatonic's knowledge of the telco market, certainly contributed to this success, the agency wrote in a statement Friday.
"Thanks to Sunrise, we have been able to develop, distinguish ourselves and grow over the last few years. The fact that this successful journey is now continuing makes us very proud," Chris Fluckiger, CEO and founder of Mediatonic, is quoted as saying. According to its own information, the Geneva-based agency is now the second-largest independent Swiss media agency and was the highest-quality media agency in Switzerland last year, according to Recma.
"In recent years, Sunrise, as number two in the market and challenger to number one, has been able to continuously increase its consideration," said Andreas Caluori, Senior Director Brand Development & Consumer at Sunrise UPC. "With analytical thinking, many media first-mover implementations that moved the telco market, as well as highlighting language regional and regional potential, Mediatonic has made its contribution to this success."

The event venue's partnership with Sunrise UPC is designed to bring event experiences to a new level, according to a joint statement. "We are spoiling guests at the Hallenstadion with new productions and digital offerings. In this way, we surprise our Hallenstadion fans in addition to the concert experience. With Sunrise UPC, we have found the perfect partner and our visitors can look forward to many innovations in the future," Philipp Musshafen, director of AG Hallenstadion, is quoted as saying.
As Switzerland's largest indoor event location with a capacity of up to 15,500 visitors, the Hallenstadion is a venue for international events of all kinds. Over the past two years, the venue had used the "silence" imposed due to Corona to develop new concepts and prepare the way for new partnerships. With the first Premium Partner, a completely new form of cooperation is to open up for the Hallenstadion. The focus will be on emotions and an innovative overall experience for visitors - before, during and after the event.
"By working with the Hallenstadion Zurich, we are taking another important step towards becoming the number 1 in the Swiss entertainment market. Thanks to our many commitments in the sports and entertainment sector, we will offer our customers even more exciting and exclusive events - live and via digital channels," says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise UPC.

Specifically, the Streaming service "Oneplus" from CH Media will become an integral part of Sunrise UPC's TV offering, the two companies announced jointly on Friday. At the same time, Sunrise UPC is taking a 20 percent stake in CH Media TV AG. This is a long-term, strategic partnership.
CH Media also becomes the main partner of MySports, Sunrise UPC's sports and entertainment offering with a focus on ice hockey. From the coming season, MySports will have the overall media rights to the National League.
In addition to CH Media, the telecom company Sunrise UPC also brought the Blick Group on board. This will make the National League accessible to a broad audience on TV and digital channels, according to a media release from Sunrise UPC and the National League.
According to MySports, CH Media is the market leader among private TV providers in Switzerland. In digital, the Blick Group is a sports flagship with expertise in ice hockey and a strong online presence. Ice hockey fans would watch all Nationa League games on MySports.
In future, one National League match each will be shown weekly on CH Media's TV24 and on Blick.ch, according to the media release. The concrete distribution plans for German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino will be worked out in the coming months. MySports and the National League extended their media partnership last year until 2027.
Swiss television SRF and the other SRG stations are directly affected by the redistribution of broadcasting rights for the National League. SRG is making intensive efforts to obtain the corresponding broadcasting rights for all language regions until the 2026/27 season, Roland Mägerle, Head of SRF Sport and Business Unit Sport SRG, is quoted as saying in an interview on the SRF website.
SRG is still in talks with Sunrise UPC about acquiring rights to broadcast its own National League programs. Mägerle: "Exactly how SRG broadcasters will be able to report on Swiss club ice hockey from the 2022/23 season is still open, however." (SDA)

In addition to the proven competencies in the areas of strategy, creation and data-based content generation, Sunrise UPC was convinced by the integrated approach of the communication solution presented.
Through the merger of Sunrise and UPC, the telecommunications company combines the gigabit fiber-optic cable network with the mobile network. This fixed-mobile convergence makes Sunrise UPC one of the major players in the Swiss market. Successfully translating the new market position into the brand positioning of Sunrise UPC marketing will be the main task of Thjnk Zurich.
Thjnk Zurich was founded in 2016 by consultant Andrea Bison and creative Alexander Jaggy. Today, strategist Gordon Nemitz and creative Pablo Schencke complete the management team. After almost 6 years, the agency now employs over 30 people and serves 15 clients, including Bio Suisse, Credit Suisse, Denner, Edelweiss, Helsana and Ochsner Sport. With Thjnk 24/7, the agency develops concepts and platforms for data-driven, individualized communication in combination with automation and distribution.
