The joy of these poster sites was truly great: because joy was literally there for the taking at the Ex Libris poster sites. Throughout German-speaking Switzerland, at Zurich main station and during a two-day guerrilla campaign in Zurich and Bern, 12,000 books were distributed via the poster sites (advertisingweek.ch reported). Current thrillers, novels, children's and non-fiction books provided thousands of passers-by with a great deal of enthusiasm and new reading pleasure.
With this campaign, Ex Libris set itself the task of awakening the love of reading in everyone in Switzerland. For two weeks, traditional poster sites in German-speaking Switzerland were transformed into bookshelves. Ex Libris was also present for three days with a reading paradise at Zurich main station, where it gave away 6,000 books. "The rush at Zurich main station was huge," says Sonja Alber, CMO of Ex Libris Switzerland. "On average, the shelves were emptied after just 15 minutes and everyone left our reading paradise with a love of reading and a great deal of pleasure in new books."

The bookshelf posters that could be found in German-speaking Switzerland became real fans. "We received feedback from people who traveled to the poster sites from all over Switzerland and scoured them for exciting books," Sonja Alber continues. "The huge logistical challenge of transforming 61 poster sites into real bookshelves with 12,000 free books was definitely worth it." Dennis Lück, owner of the agency brinkertlück, is also satisfied: "The poster sites didn't just give away books, but above all the joy of reading. This enthusiasm was clearly evident in the reactions on site and in the comments on social media."

The campaign was accompanied by guerrilla actions in Zurich and Bern. On October 31, books were distributed on the streets of Zurich - in keeping with the location. On Paradeplatz in front of the main buildings of the two major banks, for example, relationship guides were handed out and passers-by were given the latest crime novels by the city police. There was also a friendly wink at the competition: books were also given away in front of the Orell Füssli branch on Europaallee. On November 1, the campaign was moved to Bern and the joy of reading was awakened in front of the Bundeshaus and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In total, a further 1,000 books sparked even more reading pleasure through the distribution campaigns.

The Museum of Communication is known for its interactive exhibitions. Here, things can be touched, because we don't understand many things with our heads, but with our hands. The museum is now putting this credo into practice in a poster campaign. Posters made of luminous colored artificial fur are now intended not only to attract attention at Bern train station, but also to trigger a reflex to touch.

The goal: passers-by should actively turn to the advertising, linger and stroke the fur. The slogan "Museum to touch" is implemented literally. In this way, the Museum für Kommunikation not only wants to get its message across, but also give the poster medium a surprising, haptic dimension. This benefits the museum, the medium, but also the people: Stroking fur is supposed to have a calming effect and reduce stress.

In its new campaign, Eichhof Brewery is letting the people of Central Switzerland have their say and writing on the posters what moves its consumers - including even a wedding proposal. Starting this week, the 80 unusual posters and more than 100 online banners can be seen throughout Central Switzerland.
Dominik asks Svenja to marry him - but not somehow. In Lucerne, his marriage proposal is emblazoned in black and yellow on a billboard on Bruchstrasse in the city. Eichhof is making this possible - and is also giving Svenja and Dominik free beer for their big celebration. With its new campaign, the Lucerne brewery celebrates its consumers and listens carefully to their wishes and comments.
Whether on the way to the summit of the Stanserhorn or on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the local brewery expresses the diversity of Central Switzerland and adapts each poster to its location. More than 100 people from Central Switzerland have contributed their sayings to the yellow-and-black posters, which will be on display from April 17 to 30, 2023, at a wide variety of locations in the six cantons of Central Switzerland.

Six different cantons, more than 800,000 inhabitants and countless dialects. Eichhof knows how individual Central Switzerland is. Sandro from Kriens, for example, jokes about the well-known debt problems of his homeland with his slogan "Even Kriens can still afford it. Katia from Ebikon surprises with the headline "Mall empty, glass full" and wants to attract visitors to the shopping center. Meanwhile, Eichhof brewer Céline expresses her love for songs by Sido and good beer with the claim "Mein Bezirk, mein Viertel, mein Bier". Yannick from Lucerne suggests to the parish that Eichhof should be used to "create more atmosphere in the parish". Mitch, who runs up the Stanserhorn several times in the summer, awards Eichhof the title of "Official Stanserhorn Way Beer.

75 years ago, Hero from Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau launched the "exquisite Italian delicacy", bringing convenience to Swiss cuisine. Ravioli owes its breakthrough in the 1950s to its simple preparation. Hero relied on original advertising measures to market the cans right from the start. Retailers, for example, were asked to build pyramids with the cans in their stores to attract consumers' attention. The launch was accompanied by the legendary four-minute commercial "Hurray, the groom is coming!
In the commercial, the protagonist Vreneli falls in love with Angelo during her vacation in Italy. Shortly afterwards, back in Switzerland, she introduces the Italian groom to her parents. Thanks to ravioli, the dinner was a complete success. Angelo felt at home in Italy with Vreneli's parents and his love for the bride grew. During this time, canned ravioli gained a firm foothold in Swiss cuisine and became a best-seller.
Frederic Haas, Managing Director Hero Switzerland, says: "True to our advertising DNA, we are celebrating the anniversary with a broad-based poster campaign "Heiss gliebt sit 75 Johr" in Switzerland." In 2022, Swiss people consumed around six million cans of ravioli.

Among the more than 1,000 projects submitted, British duo Sarah and Ciaren Diante won unanimously. On the work, the festival's symbol, the leopard, merges with a female figure and the iconic yellow and black palette with bold blue tones for the first time.
In total, more than 1,000 proposals were submitted from over 80 countries. The winning poster by British duo Sarah and Ciaren Dante (both born in 1977) is sensual, mysterious and sophisticated. Reminiscent of traditional English painting, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his ethereal female figures, or the illustrations of Aubrey Beardsley, it references 20th century optical art. The mysterious work with the leopard and the female figure leaves room for interpretation and questions entrenched values. The new subject will not only be seen on the event posters, but will also shape the festival's printed and digital promotional and information material.
The jury includes, in addition to the Festival's Presidency and Management, a group of renowned external consultants from the communication, art and film sectors: Emanuele Amighetti (Art Director of Esquire Magazine Italy), Charlotte Colbert (director and multimedia artist and Locarno74 Swatch First Feature Award winner with She Will), Walter Fasano (director and editor of various films by Luca Guadagnino and Dario Argento), Carlo Giordanetti (Product and Design Committee and CEO of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel), Patrick Gyger (Director of Platforme 10), Michele Jannuzzi (Director of Jannuzzi Smith and Brand Consultant of the Festival) and Denise Tonella (Director of the Swiss National Museum).

The top locations of the bus shelters and the other areas - as a link between the center, main roads, lake promenade as well as tourist attractions - offer advertisers strong presence, an interesting format mix and a convincing advertising impact in the city of Locarno. In addition, the bus shelters owned by the city will be completely renewed and expanded over the next few years.
Renato Belotti, Head of Sales Consulting South, says: "We are very pleased that the City of Locarno has awarded us the contract to market a total of 45 advertising spaces. They are available for booking with immediate effect and are located at highly frequented sites. APG|SGA is thus further expanding its leading position in the Ticino outdoor advertising market. And we are proud to be able to continue our long-standing partnership with Locarno."
The panels can be combined with APG|SGA's comprehensive analog and digital offering. More than 2100 panels - including backlit posters, screens, public transport panels, and various special formats - are available throughout Ticino. A programmatically bookable "Rail ePanel" network covers the three important cities of Locarno, Lugano, and Bellinzona.

Neuchâtel would be the third canton, after Basel-City and Vaud, to introduce a ban on sexist advertising in public spaces. The cantonal government showed readiness to accept the proposal of the SP and the parliamentary group of the Greens and POP. A ban on sexist advertising is one among other measures on the way to equality, said SP government councilor Florence Nater.
The FDP and SVP in particular opposed the proposal. Patricia Borloz expressed fears on behalf of the Free Democrats that such advertising restrictions could lead in the direction of censorship. "Will we also get an advertising ban on red meat at some point?" she asked.
For the SVP, the motion opens the door to lawsuits of all kinds. An advertisement could be offensive to some, while others would not find it so, said Estelle Matthey-Junod.
A second motion of the Left Party, which is intended to counteract indebtedness, was also approved. The motion calls for the municipalities to ensure that small loans can no longer be advertised on billboards in public spaces. The government was also in favor of this motion. (SDA/swi)

For the competition, the festival has teamed up with its partner Vaudoise Insurance, which supports contemporary art in Switzerland through its Art Commission. Several prizes will be awarded, and 30 artists will also have the opportunity to exhibit their works at the festival.
While the "Silent Shores" competition reflected a year of historic silence in Montreux, the new theme "Restart" aims to convey a message of hope. Participants are asked to present their dreams and visions of a world that is reawakening. The Montreux Jazz Festival and Vaudoise Insurance both have a long tradition in the visual arts. Since 1967, the festival has given a Swiss or international artist complete freedom to design the official poster.
Vaudoise created its Art Commission in 1955 at the suggestion of the company's management and the renowned architect Jean Tschumi, who had designed the Cèdres headquarters in Lausanne. With this competition, the Montreux Jazz Festival and Vaudoise Insurance want to support a profession that is particularly suffering from the crisis. Therefore, the competition is reserved for professional artists, apprentices as well as students in the field of visual arts.
An internal jury of the Montreux Jazz Festival and Vaudoise Insurance will select the 30 best posters, which will then be exhibited during the 55th edition of the Festival. A jury of experts will then select the 10 best designs from this pre-selection of 30 posters. Illustrator Malika Favre, who designed the 2017 festival poster, will preside over this jury. She will be assisted by Stefano Stoll, director of Festival Images Vevey, and Alexis Georgacopoulos, director of ECAL/Canton Vaud School of Art. The posters of the 10 finalists will be printed in 50 x 70 cm format and sold throughout the festival network in a limited edition of 100 copies. The respective artists will receive 20 % of the proceeds of each poster sold. The 3 best designs will also win prizes ranging from CHF 1,000 to CHF 5,000.
In addition, a public competition will be announced in which the public can choose their favorite from the 10 posters selected by the expert jury on the Montreux Jazz Festival's social media channels. This audience award is endowed with CHF 3,000. Vaudoise will also award a prize to one of the ten selected posters.
The Montreux Jazz Festival will announce the format of its 55th edition on April 8 - and will also present its detailed vision for a "new start."
