In future, Fricktal will have a strong joint weekly newspaper. The Neue Fricktaler Zeitung and Mobus signed a cooperation agreement on Monday. They want to join forces with this pioneering partnership. Their common goal is to publish a strong, future-oriented and high-quality weekly newspaper for the entire Fricktal and the neighboring Basel region.
The two media companies will remain independent. All employees will continue to work at their locations in Rheinfelden, Frick or Stein. Thanks to this cooperation, however, synergies can be achieved and significant savings made in the production and distribution of the weekly newspaper. This new joint weekly newspaper will be based on the previous Thursday edition of the "Neue Fricktaler Zeitung/Fricktaler Woche" and the Wednesday edition of "fricktal.info".
The subscription editions of the "Neue Fricktaler Zeitung" on Tuesday and Friday are not affected by this merger; they will continue to appear unchanged and contain the latest Fricktal information as usual. Mobus' printing activities are also unaffected by this merger and will continue unchanged.
The existing names "Neue Fricktaler Zeitung (Fricktaler Woche)" and "fricktal.info" will also be adopted for the joint weekly newspaper and listed in the title. The new joint weekly newspaper will be published in a large newspaper format and will be delivered to all households by post on Thursdays. With a circulation of 47,000 copies, it covers the entire region 100 percent and will become a strong voice in the region. It will also contain the official publications of all Fricktal municipalities and some neighboring Baselbieter municipalities.
The editorial teams of both media companies will work closely together and all sales activities will also be bundled. The first issue of the joint weekly newspaper will be published on Thursday, 8 January 2026. The online presences will continue to operate individually for the time being, but will be optimized on an attractive platform at a later date.
This cooperation between the two publishing families Moser from Stein and Herzog from Rheinfelden represents an important step into the future. Both are convinced that this new joint weekly newspaper represents a milestone in the Fricktal media landscape. Readers will now have an attractive, joint weekly newspaper and advertisers will have a strong mouthpiece for their advertising. And despite major changes and challenges in the media landscape, it guarantees Fricktal a strong and independent information platform for the future.
