"Promoting the marketing profession is one of EMC's core tasks," EMC Chairman Ralf Strauss is quoted as saying in a press release. Working in marketing means having to constantly develop and grow as a person. "While we are very committed to Europe-wide certification and qualification, we now finally want to recognize implementation with this new award."
The EMC raises local initiatives to an international level, as Alvyde Palaimate, Deputy Chairman of the EMC and CEO of the Lithuanian Marketing Association LIMA, emphasizes.
How to vote
The candidates for the "European Marketer of the Year" award are nominated by EMC members - one of which is Swiss Marketing - and other associations. The application process consists of a form with predefined criteria. A jury will then interview the candidates and make a decision. In addition to the title, the winner will receive other "invaluable awards", as the statement continues.

At the end of the year, the European Marketing Confederation and its member Swiss Marketing are launching a survey for Switzerland to ascertain the focus areas and projects for the coming year in marketing 2022 across Europe.
This year, the "Marketing Agenda 2022" would again like to find out from participants what their companies will be focusing on in the following year, and which topics will gain relevance. What will be the challenges and barriers to be overcome in marketing in 2022?
The study is designed to provide insights into strategies, processes, challenges and requirements for the coming year. The results of the study provide a basis for further surveys.
The study lasts five minutes and is aimed at CMOs, marketing directors and marketing managers. As a cooperation partner invite Advertisingweek.ch and m&k cordially invites its readers to participate in the industry study.

With a survey among its members, the EMC aimed to take the pulse of the event industry among those directly affected. Some 22 event and corporate specialists took part and described their situation to the EMC board. The meeting of the Federal Council with representatives of the tourism industry sent a positive signal.
Two thirds with short-time work
Two-thirds of respondents have applied for short-time work. In relation to the Swiss economy as a whole, where a total of one-third of employees are registered for short-time work, this is very high due to the sector. Nevertheless, 90 percent of respondents rated the Federal Council's measures as necessary and basically very good.
66% in home office
According to official regulations, the event industry is also obliged not to carry out its work in an open-plan office. For this reason, around two-thirds currently work in a home office. However, even in the event industry, only a portion of employees work primarily at a computer.
Strong change in external communication
External communication has changed significantly in many companies in recent weeks. It mainly takes place via email and video calls, but increasingly also via WhatsApp and other chat systems, and occasionally via newsletters.
Strengthened customer relationships
Despite the more difficult circumstances, many of the respondents state that the customer relationship has tended to improve in these challenging times. These are positive signs and a good basis for a long-term customer relationship. After all, in the final analysis, customer and supplier are in the same boat and must first and foremost find constructive solutions that help both sides. And the event industry seems to have understood this.
During the first Event Management Circle this year in Zurich's X-Tra, the members of the association present unanimously elected the new board. The new EMC board is chaired by Andreas Feurer (Feuerbach Events), who was already a member of the association's board. Vice president is Marco Boppart (Richterich & Partner), who joins the EMC board as a new member. Also part of the board are Beatrix Troschke (F. Hofmann-La Roche, previously), Lorenz Arni (SVIT Switzerland, previously), Marc Maurer (Marc Maurer communications, newly) and Susanne Felder (Siemens Switzerland, previously).
New EMC alignment
With the new board, the members also voted for a new orientation of the EMC. The event will continue to be at the center of future events. However, in the sense of a 360° approach, the areas of PR, marketing, advertising and (digital) communication will also be given greater weight.
The Event Management Circle was founded in 2005 and sees itself as a platform for the transfer of expertise, mutual exchange and support for industry-specific concerns. With more than 170 members, the association is one of the largest event platforms in Switzerland. Members are representatives from event agencies and companies in the banking, insurance, pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. The EMC organizes four Event Circles per year, where members receive impulses for their daily work in the event sector through workshops and external presentations. The focus is on networking among the participants.
