"Das Magazin" author Christian Seiler has won the German Cookbook Award for his book "Alles wird gut" (Echtzeit Verlag). The award-winning work, consisting of a collection of his columns published in "Das Magazin", received special recognition from the jury in Hamburg for its unique humor, poetry and positive view of things.
The jury statement said: "That's how we feel about 'Alles wird gut'. We were very impressed by the humor, the poetry and the positive view of things with which you have written this book. From our point of view, 'Alles wird gut' is a very special cookbook that can only be described to a limited extent by the usual standards and is an outstanding example of how cookbooks can make a constructive contribution to the development and dissemination of food culture. And - not to forget - it is also as readable and entertaining as a novel."
Christian Seiler, born in Vienna in 1961, was editor-in-chief of the cultural magazine Du and the news magazine profil and is the author of numerous books. He has been a columnist for Tamedia's "Das Magazin" since 2012.
Christian Seiler, author: "I can't imagine an editorial team where I could write about food and drink so freely, so inspired and with so much collective support. The highest quality standards of 'Magazin' are the prerequisite for writing something entertaining, original and clever every week. So I'm all the more pleased that the texts also appeal in an international context - and have now won awards."
Bruno Ziauddin, editor-in-chief of "Das Magazin": "Christian Seiler's cooking columns are more than just cooking columns. They are cheerful, clever and brilliantly written feuilletons on the cultural technique of cooking and all the questions (both technical and philosophical) that accompany the preparation and eating of food. I would award Seiler all the cookbook prizes there are every year. The German Cookbook Prize is a start. Seriously, our editorial team is very proud of our colleague and shares his delight at this great honor."
