Switzerland will host the next Global AI Summit in Geneva in 2027. Federal President Guy Parmelin made the announcement on February 19, 2026, in New Delhi at the AI Impact Summit, in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This decision strengthens Switzerland’s position as a leader in the global dialogue on AI.
The AI Summit offers an opportunity to highlight Switzerland as a modern, world-class host country for AI and to strengthen Geneva’s position on the international stage. Public institutions and companies in Switzerland can actively participate in the global dialogue on AI.
As the umbrella organization for digitalization in Switzerland, Digitalswitzerland coordinates efforts under the Swiss AI Action Plan among stakeholders from the public sector, academia, and the private sector. This action plan forms the foundation for Switzerland’s perspective at the AI Summit and leverages the national momentum to bring together key stakeholders and achieve concrete progress.
The strategic initiative, proposed by Federal Councilor Albert Rösti at the digitalswitzerland Forum in November 2025, is intended to make a key contribution to the AI Summit in Geneva. It will propose important measures for Switzerland to accelerate the responsible integration of AI into society and the economy.
The AI Action Plan is currently being developed through an ongoing participatory stakeholder process that builds on a series of strategic events throughout 2026. Digitalswitzerland is playing a central role in coordinating this Action Plan and facilitating dialogue and specific sessions both in the run-up to and during the Global AI Summit itself.
The Digital Summit in May and the digitalswitzerland Forum in September 2026 will serve as key events leading up to the Summit, with a focus on implementing the initial measures of the AI Action Plan. It will serve as one of the most important platforms for pooling and coordinating the joint efforts of the Swiss AI ecosystem. The AI Action Plan will be a key tool in shaping an effective agenda and positioning Switzerland as a trusted location for investment and innovation in AI.
Franziska Barmettler, CEO of Digitalswitzerland: «The AI Summit 2027 in Geneva offers a unique opportunity to position Switzerland as a leader in AI. We are pleased to pave the way for the summit and to support Swiss companies and organizations in benefiting from it. With the AI Action Plan, we are making a concrete contribution aimed at strengthening Switzerland’s global position and creating a national momentum for collaboration.»
